Needless to explain, you know that this is an entry level lens when you lay your eyes on its maximum aperture of f/3.5.
In 70s - 80s, it is not an easy task to look for a 135mm prime lens which got a smaller maximum aperture.
However, you miss a treasure if you judge Canon FD 135mm f/3.5 by this aspect.
It comes with a fairly good performance compare with its low price.

There are 2 different versions of 135mm f/3.5 in Canon FD mount history:
the earlier version with a silver ring on the lens tube and the new FD 135mm f/3.5 in black color.
In this article I'm talking about the new Canon FD 135mm f/3.5.
This lens was made in 4 groups 4 elements structure and coated in multiple layers.(S.S.C coating)
It has maximum aperture of 3.5 , minimum aperture of 32 and 1.3m closest focus distance.

There are 3 different 135mm lens in Canon new FD series (another two are 135mm f/2.8 and 135mm f/2.0).
135mm f/3.5 was the earliest one to be discontinued.but make it clear: this is not because its performance was dissatisfied.
Canon discontinued the production of 135mm f/3.5 to increase the selling volume of 135mm f/2.8, which had better profit margin.
All of these factors made it became a forgotten gem in the series of lens.

Load a roll of high speed film, it can be used to shoot whether on the street or in a studio.
The greatest thing is, you can have superb results with a fair price!
If you have limited budget (or you have some more extra budget) , try this and you won't regret.
